ABOUT

Shawn Bracke is a photographer based out of Toronto, ON.

Taking inspiration from the human experience, Shawn's goal is to capture intimate moments that convey a feeling. Through his portraiture and branding works, he aims to capture authenticity in his subjects within a safe and collaborative creative space.

Recently off a three month residency with Capsul Studios (Toronto), he explored photographing members from the LGBTQ+ community while discovering where they first found a sense of community as a queer person, conducted through informal interviews.

Leading the creative process, Shawn takes his knowledge from Choreography and Movement Direction to each shoot/set and in the post production process. His work as an Dance Instructor comes in key for fluid photoshoots creating images that reflect the best version of the subjects he's shooting.

Shawn acknowledges the land he is standing on today in Tkaronto is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. He acknowledges that Tkaronto (Toronto) is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaty signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.
